Coke Morgan Stewart was sworn in as the Commerce Department’s deputy undersecretary for intellectual property and the deputy director of the US Patent and Trademark Office on Monday shortly after President Donald Trump took office.
Stewart, formerly senior counsel at O’Melveny & Myers LLP, currently serves as the PTO’s acting director, according to her profile published on the agency’s website. That interim post had most recently been held by Derrick Brent, who took over running the office after former head Kathi Vidal returned to Winston& Strawn LLP in December.
