Stanford University fended off a lawsuit alleging it discriminated against a Black Muslim lecturer when it investigated his class discussions on Israel and Palestine, but a federal judge said the worker can try again on some claims.
The former lecturer didn’t allege enough facts to support an inference that the university based its decision to investigate, suspend, and ultimately not retain him on his protected characteristics, the US District Court for the Northern District of California said. He also failed to sufficiently allege retaliation, the Monday order said.
