The New York Senate passed a bill Monday night on a 35-27 vote that would allow terminally ill people to end their lives with the help of a physician, shifting the focus to whether Gov. Kathy Hochul will sign it.
The vote brings New York closer to becoming just the 12th state with such a law on the books.
