Amazon Evades Trade Secrets Suit Over Halo App 3D Body Scan Tech

Amazon.com Inc. avoided claims that a 3D body-scanning feature in its now-discontinued Halo app was created in part by ripping off a UK-based company’s proprietary technology.

Select Research Ltd.'s allegations say nothing about whether Amazon’s patents tied to the Halo feature “‘actually disclosed an SRL trade secret,’ let alone what that trade secret allegedly was,” Judge Jesse M. Furman of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York wrote in a Tuesday order dismissing the case with prejudice.
