A map giving Florida Republicans an advantage in 24 of the state’s 28 US House districts can’t be quickly blocked as politicians gear up for the midterm elections, a state court ruled Tuesday.
The decision put the breaks on a legal challenge to stop Republicans from netting an advantage in an additional four congressional districts this November.
A series of voting rights groups couldn’t meet the high bar to shelve the map because they failed to prove the 2022 map they sought to compel was also constitutional, Second District Circuit Judge Joshua Hawkes ruled.
