Boston Police Must Face Suit Over Handling of Cop’s Sexual Abuse

Officials from the Boston Police Department and the state of Massachusetts must face a lawsuit accusing them of putting children in greater danger through their response to allegations of an officer’s sexual abuse, the First Circuit ruled Friday.

Two people who said they were abused by officer Patrick Rose while off duty put forth plausible allegations against the police department that pass at least part of a test to weigh their 14th Amendment “state-created danger” claims, Judge Julie Rikelman of the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit wrote.
