The construction firm that had workers on the Francis Scott Key Bridge at the time of its collapse is contesting a proposed serious fine with Maryland’s state safety agency.
Six workers for Brawner Builders Inc. died when a cargo ship owned by Singaporean companies struck one of the Baltimore bridge’s piers. Those workers sustained fatal injuries after falling more than 180 feet into the Patapsco River’s about 50-foot-deep section, according to the inspection report.
