A Massachusetts federal judge Tuesday ordered the Department of Homeland Security to reinstate parole status for the more than 900,000 people who entered the US through the Biden-era CBP One app.
Judge Allison D. Burroughs said the Trump administration’s mass termination of parole for the noncitizens was unlawful because the agency failed to determine that the purposes of the parole had been accomplished prior to ending it.
Hundreds of thousands of noncitizens used the government’s mobile application to schedule appointments with immigration authorities to seek asylum or other relief at US points of entry starting in 2023.
