Education Department Fails to Escape Suit Over Research Cuts

A group of education advocacy and research nonprofits can proceed with claims that the US Department of Education violated its statutory obligations when it halted research and data collection activities by the Institute of Education Sciences.

The organizations adequately alleged the department has deprived them of information they’re statutorily entitled to by claiming the agency has canceled and not replaced various research studies, Judge Trevor N. McFadden of the US District Court for the District of Columbia said.
