The GOP-controlled Michigan House of Representatives must be ordered to forward nine bills passed during the waning days of a previous legislative session to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for review, a partially divided state Court of Appeals panel said Monday.
The panel, in a win for the Democratic-controlled state Senate, ruled 2-1 that a Michigan Court of Claims judge erred when she didn’t issue an order forcing the House to act. The House’s inaction means the Senate also can’t perform what’s required of it under the Michigan Constitution, Judge Thomas C. Cameron said.
