The Trump administration must stop blocking access to lawyers for detainees kept after immigration sweeps in a downtown Los Angeles holding center, a federal judge said, ordering the facility to provide privacy for detainees and their legal counsel.
Officials aren’t fully complying with a July temporary restraining order requiring daily legal visitation at the basement facility known as B-18, Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong said. They’re still turning away lawyers during regular hours or failing to let them know when the center will be closed, she said.
