Relatives of a woman killed in a 2023 mass shooting at a Monterey Park ballroom dance studio may proceed—for now—with their claim that the studio should have been more secure, a Los Angeles judge ruled.
Judge Lee S. Arian allowed a claim of negligence to proceed, overruling a challenge from the ballroom Friday. Finding a second claim of premise liability redundant, he sustained that element of the ballroom’s demurrer.
