Meta to See $40 Billion Civil Penalty Request From Kentucky (1)

The Kentucky Attorney General’s office said it will ask for up to $40 billion from Meta Platforms Inc. in a sweeping lawsuit brought by a coalition of state AGs alleging the social media company has addicted and harmed children.

Kentucky’s civil penalties request, which ranged between $38 billion and $40 billion, was disclosed at a Wednesday hearing in federal court in Oakland, California, ahead of a trial scheduled for August.
