Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) is barred from requesting the National Collegiate Athletic Association perform mandatory sex-verification testing on all student athletes, a state court said, but his deceptive trade claims survived.
The NCAA was granted summary judgment against Paxton’s bid for injunctive relief, but must face the state’s Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims, the 237th District Court in Lubbock ruled Monday. Paxton’s lawsuit, filed in December 2024, argued that the NCAA was engaging in deceptive practices by including transgender athletes in events marketed as women’s sporting events.
