New York’s Independent Redistricting Commission must get to work redrawing congressional lines that can be used for the 2024 elections, the state’s highest court ruled Tuesday in a win for Democrats eager to regain seats they lost in 2022.
The panel must submit a new set of maps by Feb. 28, Chief Judge Rowan Wilson wrote in the majority opinion. Court of Appeals Associate Judges Jenny Rivera and Shirley Troutman, as well as 1st Appellate Department Presiding Justice Dianne Renwick joined Wilson on the opinion.
