An Ohio agency agreed to approve vanity license plates that say “GAY” and “MUSLIM” as part of a deal reached Thursday to resolve a two-day-old federal lawsuit filed by two residents who said the state improperly rejected their requested plates.
The deal, reached during a Zoom hearing and brokered by Senior Judge Dan Aaron Polster of the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, came after representatives of the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles said they erred in rejecting the proposed personalized plates.
