Colorado State University and Utah State University have sued the Mountain West Conference for allegedly illegally seeking tens of millions of dollars in exit fees in relation to their decisions to join the Pac-12 Conference in 2026, attorneys for the universities said Monday.
The two universities say the exit fees and other adverse decisions were improperly made behind their backs in secret meetings, violating their current Mountain West membership rights, according to their complaint in Colorado state court in Denver County.
