Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) can try to revoke the authority of an immigrant rights charity to conduct business in the state for taking public stances opposing Republican candidates and conservative legislation, a state appeals court ruled.
Paxton gets the chance to prove the charity, FIEL Houston, engaged in political activities that its legal formation documents expressly prohibit, the Texas Court of Appeals, Fifteenth District, said Thursday.
A trial court that previously denied Paxton from initiating revocation proceedings must now let the state present its case.
