A Christian photographer and Louisville, Ky., resolved a lawsuit alleging a city ordinance unlawfully barred her from refusing to provide her services for gay weddings.
The settlement covers $800,000 in attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses, in addition to keeping a permanent injunction against the ordinance in place, the parties said in a Tuesday settlement notice filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. Chelsey Nelson sued the Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government in 2019 over its Fairness Ordinance, which she claimed violated her rights to religious freedom and free speech.
