Officials in San Francisco and the county of Santa Clara brought a legal challenge to President Donald Trump’s executive order cutting off federal funding for sanctuary cities and directing use of local officials for immigration enforcement.
The localities are co-leading a coalition of cities and counties across the US in a bid to block the enforcement of an executive order to defund sanctuary cities, and Department of Justice memos directing the prosecution of state and local officials who don’t assist federal immigration enforcement.
