Sirius XM Can’t Shake Oregon Suit Alleging Deceptive Royalty Fee

Consumers in Oregon can proceed with their lawsuit alleging Sirius XM Radio Inc. misled them about a flat monthly royalty fee that was added to the music plans it sold, a federal judge said.

The US District Court for the District of Oregon denied Sirius XM’s motion to dismiss Tuesday.

The company has been sued in multiple courts by consumers who say it deceptively advertises low prices for music plans by hiding a “music royalty fee” that increases the plans’ price by more than 20%.
