A recently enacted Missouri law putting the St. Louis police department under state control should be invalidated by a district court, according to a new lawsuit the city filed Monday.
St. Louis and its Board of Alderman President Megan Green asked the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri in a complaint to declare House Bill 495, also known as the “state takeover law,” invalid.
