Seventeen states convinced a federal judge to grant them an additional week to complete an admissions data survey they say is an illegal attempt to track how race and gender are considered in the higher education admissions process.
Judge F. Dennis Saylor of the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted the states’ request for a temporary restraining order to move the deadline to complete the US Department of Education’s survey to March 25. The judge granted March 13 the TRO without prejudice to allow the states further deadline extensions or other temporary fixes “as justice may require.” ...
