A group of 21 states and the District of Columbia won a court order temporarily blocking the US Department of Agriculture from requiring states to turn over the sensitive data of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients.
The lawsuit is part of a wave of litigation challenging the efforts of the Trump administration and its Department of Government Efficiency to gain access to data maintained by government agencies. Other suits targeted DOGE’s efforts to obtain data from the Social Security Administration, the Department of Education, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Treasury Department.
