Supreme Court Asked to Weigh California’s Trans Student Policy

Lawyers challenging California’s policy that prevents teachers from outing transgender students to their parents have asked the US Supreme Court to weigh in after the Ninth Circuit temporarily reinstated the policy.

The Thursday petition to Justice Elena Kagan asks for an emergency order restoring a district judge’s order that blocked the policy. A panel of US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit judges paused the lower court’s order on Monday, allowing the policy to take effect.
