TikTok Ruled Not Immune From Massachusetts’ Addiction Claims (1)

TikTok Inc. isn’t protected by a federal legal shield from Massachusetts’ allegations that the video platform designed itself to addict young users and contributed to a mental health crisis among teens, a state court ruled.

The design features challenged by Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell (D) mirror ones in state’s case against Meta Platforms Inc. for its Instagram app, an enforcement action the state’s Supreme Judicial Court greenlit in March, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Peter Krupp said.
