A fast approaching vacancy on the Texas Supreme Court has drawn interest from Republican judges on two of the state’s largest intermediary appeals courts.
Justices Lori Brissette of San Antonio and Jennifer Caughey of Houston are seeking an appointment from Gov. Greg Abbott (R) to the high court, according to a list of applicants Bloomberg Law obtained Wednesday through a public records request.
Theirs were the only applications submitted in a four-month period after Justice Jeff Boyd (R) announced in April that he’d be stepping down and not seeking re-election.
