Uber Loses Second Bellwether Trial in Passenger Assault Case (1)

Uber Technologies Inc. lost its second federal bellwether trial Monday in a case brought by a female passenger in North Carolina who said the ride-share company is responsible for a driver placing his hand on her thigh and making sexual comments toward her.

A jury in Charlotte, North Carolina returned a verdict finding that the Uber driver committed battery against the passenger during a 2019 ride.

The jury awarded her $5,000 in damages, according to her attorneys.
