California reached an agreement with the state’s public engineers’ union Monday that will delay the governor’s return-to-office mandate until July 2026 for its members, the union said.
A spokesperson for Professional Engineers in California Government said the union will be dropping its lawsuit and its challenges at the state’s Public Employment Relations Board in exchange for the delay. PECG challenged Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) March executive order requiring nearly 100,000 state employees to return to the office at least four days per week starting July 1.
