A Massachusetts judge didn’t go too far when requiring a young woman to publicly disclose her medical records in a malpractice suit against a hospital and medical providers, the state’s high court said Tuesday.
The Supreme Judicial Court declined to adopt Quinteasha Dossantos’ request for “a blanket rule that all medical records” should be shielded from public view, saying that while there’s a legislative preference for medical record confidentiality, judges are free to decide on a case-by-case basis.
