Tencent Holdings Ltd. said it faces fewer risks than TikTok in the US as the Trump administration investigatespotential security risks involving the Chinese gaming leader’s data practices.
“What we are facing risk-wise is much less compared with TikTok,” Tencent President Martin Lau told reporters on a post-earnings call on Wednesday. “The risks are completely controllable.”
Earlier this month, Tencent-controlled Finnish game studio Supercell Oy said it’s cooperating with the US government on a probe, after the Financial Times reported Trump officials are debating whether to let the Chinese company keep its stakes in US and Finnish gaming ventures.
