Uber Acquires Rival FlyTaxi in Hong Kong Push, Sing Tao Reports

Uber Technologies Inc. has agreed to acquire Hong Kong’s FlyTaxi as part of its expansion plans in the city, Sing Tao Daily reported, citing an announcement by the US-based company.

Uber said it aims to combine FlyTaxi’s local market strength with its own advanced technology and operational expertise, the Chinese-language newspaper cited Uber as saying. The price for the deal was not disclosed.

FlyTaxi will continue to operate as usual, the report said, adding that existing Uber and FlyTaxi drivers and passengers will not be affected by the change.
