Billionaire David Duffield pledged $371.5 million to his alma mater Cornell University in the largest single gift in school history, the university announced Thursday.
The donation is on top of a $100 million gift last year to expand the existing Duffield Hall at the engineering college. Duffield, who graduated from Cornell in 1962 and attended business school there, has given more than a half-billion dollars to the university.
His newest pledge will establish the Cornell David A. Duffield College of Engineering and create several endowment funds for the school to support its operations, academics and research, the university said.
