Trump Restarts Funds for NYC Second Avenue Subway Extension (1)

The Trump administration said it will resume funding for a $7 billion project to extend the Second Avenue subway to Harlem after New York City’s transit system sued over a freeze in payments.

Federal funds for the project have been on hold since October while the US Department of Transportation reviewed whether the development meets a federal rule that prohibits contracting requirements based on race or gender. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the state agency that runs the city’s subway, bus and commuter rail lines, sued in March asking a judge to block the freeze.
