NY-NJ Hudson Tunnel to Be Halted After Trump Blocked Funding (1)

Construction of a $16 billion rail tunnel that would connect northern New Jersey with Midtown Manhattan is set to be put on hold if federal funding tied to the project isn’t resumed.

The Gateway Development Commission said in a statement that work on the tunnel, one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects in the US, would be stopped at 5 p.m. local time if the Trump administration doesn’t restore funding it cut off in October.

In an earlier statement Friday, Gateway had said work was suspended.
