Minimum wages for India’s central sphere increased effective April 1, the country’s Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner said.
Central sphere minimum wages, excluding those based on piecework, range from 478 Indian rupees (US$5.14) to 1,098 Indian rupees per day, up from 465 to 1,065 Indian rupees, the office said in a notice.
The increases are the first since April 1, 2025, since no change was made effective Oct. 1 after the relevant consumer price index increased by less than one point in the previous six-month period.
