Kosovo Approves Cash Handouts 16 Days Ahead of Snap Elections

Kosovo’s government approved cash handouts and higher maternity benefits 16 days before snap elections in which Prime Minister Albin Kurtiis seeking re-election after months of political deadlock.

The package includes a €100 ($116) one-time payment for pensioners, children, students and private-sector workers earning less than €1,000 a month. The salary threshold covers much of Kosovo’s labor market, where average net pay was €552 in 2024, according to the statistics agency.
