Massachusetts released its 2026 unemployment insurance tax rates on the Department of Unemployment Assistance website.
Unemployment insurance tax rates for experienced employers in 2026 are determined using Schedule E and range from 0.94% to 5.24% for positive-rated employers and from 7.03% to 14.37% for negative-rated employers, according to the department’s rate table.
Experienced employers are also subject to a Covid-19 recovery assessment rate, according to the table. The assessment amount differs based on an employer’s tax rate under Schedule E. Including the assessment, the effective rate for experienced employers in 2026 ranges from 1.118% to 17.086%.
