A Minneapolis minimum pay ordinance for Uber and Lyft drivers won’t take effect until July 1 after the city council voted unanimously Thursday to delay it by two months amid the companies’ threats to halt service.
The ordinance will require ride-share companies to pay drivers at least $1.40 per mile plus $0.51 per minute for time spent transporting passengers, with a minimum pay of $5 per ride.
