Summit Therapeutics Inc. declined Monday after doctors questioned whether positive survival data from a Chinese trial of the company’s lung cancer drug ivonescimab would translate to the generally older US population.
The survival data from a study of more than 500 patients conducted in China by Summit’s partner Akeso Inc. was presented Sunday afternoon at the headline session of the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Chicago. While the trial was clearly positive, an independent doctor who was selected to review the data raised questions about whether the results would be good enough for US and European markets.
