PlayOn Sports will pay a $1.1 million fine and change how it collects personal data under the California Privacy Protection Agency’s first student privacy enforcement action.
The media and tech company, which is used in high school sports and events, allegedly failed to give its users a proper way to object to the sale of their personal information. Users were also forced to agree to tracking technologies before they could use tickets bought on the platform, the privacy agency’s board said in a settlement announced Tuesday.
