Ricardo Roa was ousted as Ecopetrol SA’s chief executive officer by its board after Colombian prosecutors charged him with alleged influence peddling.
Roa is also accused of violating campaign spending limits as head of Gustavo Petro’s successful 2022 presidential campaign. Roa will take a leave of absence until June 28 and in the interim will be replaced by Juan Carlos Hurtado, the current chief operating officer, Ecopetrol said in a statement. By then, Colombians would have elected a new president, who will take office in August and will likely appoint new leadership.
