Florida Subpoenas Lorex in Probe of Chinese Surveillance Fears

Florida’s attorney general asked security systems provider Lorex Corp. to hand over a swath of information about its corporate structure, contracts, and software as part of an investigation into foreign surveillance.

Attorney General James Uthmeier said Friday that its office issued a subpoena to the Canada-headquartered company over concerns about its relationship with Dahua Technology Co.—a Chinese security equipment provider.

The regulator seeks a range of information to determine whether Lorex misled consumers about the privacy and security protections of its cameras and applications.
