Lee Memorial Hospital System Defeats Meta Pixel Use Class Action

Lee Memorial Health System is immune from a proposed class action over its use of Meta Platforms’ business tools, like the tracking pixel and the Conversions Application Programming Interface, a court ruled.

The hospital system, as a subdivision of Florida, was covered by the state’s sovereign immunity. Florida law waives sovereign immunity in tort cases seeking to recover for injury, property loss, or death, but plaintiff Laurie Mack failed to establish her claim fell into those categories, Judge John L. Badalamenti said.

Mack said Lee Memorial used the tools to track website visitors, and that they transmitted data to Meta. ...
