Aging Population Has Polish Buyout Firm Betting on Healthcare

MCI Capital SA, one of Poland’s biggest private equity firms, is gearing up to pounce on new investment opportunities in the region amid dwindling competition and valuations being still below their western European peers.

The fund, which specializes in medium-sized technology companies in central and eastern Europe, may make its first healthcare purchase this year, managing partner Pawel Borys said in an interview. A steep rally in shares of lab operator Diagnostyka SA that debuted on the Warsaw bourse in February showed attractiveness of the healthcare industry catering to an aging population.
