Trump’s Auto Safety Chief Nominee Confirmed by US Lawmakers

President Donald Trump’s choice to lead the nation’s top car safety regulator was cleared by the US Senate on Thursday, positioning him to take over federal probes including several high-profile investigations involving cars made by Tesla Inc.

Jonathan Morrison, a lawyer who has worked for Apple Inc. and was nominated by Trump to be administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, was approved in a Senate vote to confirm several of Trump’s nominees.
