The US Labor Department is providing more than $10 million in grant funding to support mine safety training, underscoring the Trump administration’s dual priorities of providing compliance assistance while expanding domestic mineral production.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration’s State Grants Program will administer the funds. The program helps state, tribal, and territorial governments by providing federally required training and retraining for miners working in surface, underground coal, and metal and non-metal mines across the country.
