Curaleaf Fails to Beat Worker’s Suit Over Leave Pay, Retaliation

Curaleaf Inc. must face trial on its former senior director of brand marketing’s allegations that she wasn’t paid her full salary when she took time off to care for her terminally ill mother and for her personal health conditions.

The cannabis retailer also must face Kathryn Rincon’s claims that she was fired in retaliation for taking the time off, given she was notified of her termination the day she returned to work, Judge William K. Sessions III of the US District Court for the District of Vermont said. His Tuesday order partially denied Curaleaf’s bid for summary judgment.
