DACA Exemption Sought on Foreign Commercial Driver’s License Ban

The Department of Transportation is weighing a request to exempt Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival recipients from restrictions on commercial driver’s licenses for foreign nationals.

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations that took effect in March make nearly 200,000 foreign truck drivers ineligible for CDLs—including DACA holders, asylees, and refugees. It’s part of a series of Trump administration making standards tougher for immigrant and foreign drivers.
