Senate Clears Judicial Backlog as Nomination Pipeline Drying Up

The Senate has stepped up confirmations of President Donald Trump’s judicial nominees, as just a handful now remain in the pipeline with the administration slow to announce new picks.

Lawmakers voted to approve five selections for district courts in Arkansas, Texas, Alaska, and Missouri this week, and teed up votes for two others for seats in Tennessee and Indiana.

The confirmed picks include Nicholas Ganjei, a former top aide to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas); and Megan Benton, who will serve on a district court in Missouri. Benton’s appointment falls within the jurisdiction of her father, Judge Duane Benton of the ...
